ARCHITECTURE IN CONNECTICUT
RETURN
Architecture in Connecticut is a project requiring us to make a brochure for a historical exhibit in the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art detailing architecture around the state of Connecticut. The project had many steps, starting from taking high quality photos of buildings to printing a physical copy out for submission.
For the project, I took photos of the academic buildings of Central Connecticut State University to use in my brochure. These photos come from different angles and times of the day. They are then enhanced using lightroom, then they are incorporated into the brochure.
The layout for the brochure relied on a simple grid that had the main photo spread throughout both pages that were open, then an additional photo of the building from another angle accompanied it on the right, followed by the text summarizing the building below it, the exception of this format would be the breaker page, which has the main image fully span throughout the page and putting the summary text below the image.
Once the booklet was done, we were required to submit it by printing out a physical copy of the booklet, which I did with the assistance of a FedEx Printing Shop. The physical brochure was saddle stitched and trimmed from a 11x17 paper. In general, this portion of the project gave me great insight on how designers and their clients often work together to make the designs they create into physical objects.
